Retailers are offering “last minute” products to the Food Bank, “last minute” meaning a few hours before expiration. Therefore a very quick distribution process is needed, there is even no time to bring the food into the Food Bank warehouse for redistribution. A new model has been developed involving local charities in a direct way where charities do all logistics and the Food Bank manages the process and ensures monitoring.
100 tonnes of food from 6 stores in the pilot phase in the value of 25.000 EUR, expected to grow extensively in 2013.
